Microsoft to acquire 10.5 GW of renewable electricity generation capacity
Microsoft has signed a framework agreement with Brookfield Asset Management for the construction of 10.5 GW of renewable electricity generation capacity to power the data centres where Microsoft develops its cloud and artificial intelligence activities. The wind and photovoltaic projects are due to be developed between 2026 and 2030 in the United States and Europe. The cost of the programme is estimated at over 10 billion dollars.
