US oil and gas companies focus on CO2 capture
American oil and gas companies are investing massively in CO2 capture, while Europeans are more inclined to focus on renewable energies. Historically, CO2 capture and sequestration was developed in the United States to optimise the exploitation of oil fields (enhanced oil recovery). Public support programmes and a gas pipeline infrastructure have made it possible to develop a sector that is seen by American companies as an effective way of reducing CO2 emissions.
