TotalEnergies ready to sign long-term contracts with EDF
TotalEnergies would be prepared to buy electricity from EDF under very long-term contracts, in practice for 15 to 20 years, in order to obtain electricity at a price of around €70/MWh to supply its own sites (mainly refineries) and the group's electricity-intensive customers. While the government has indeed asked EDF to sign nuclear production allocation contracts with its electricity-intensive customers, there was nothing in the Minister's statements to indicate that this type of contract could also be offered to electricity suppliers, given that these contracts are complex and provide for payment in advance when the contract is signed, with the price and volume risks shared between EDF and its customer.
