TotalEnergies caps petrol prices for its gas and electricity customers

Residential customers buying electricity or gas from TotalEnergies will benefit from a price cap on their fuel. TotalEnergies' electricity and gas customers will be able to obtain the Group's Club card, which entitles them to a capped petrol price. TotalEnergies' offer illustrates the competition between suppliers to win new customers in the residential customer segment. According to the French energy regulator, the Commission de Régulation de l'Energie (CRE), 155,000 residential customers switched from standard tariffs to a market-based offer in the first quarter. Although still below pre-crisis levels, the switch rate is on the rise again. The fall in market prices means that alternative suppliers are once again beating the standard tariffs and offering competitive market deals (20% reduction in the energy component of the tariff).
