The United States temporarily eases sanctions against Russia

The US administration has eased sanctions on Russian oil, authorising the purchase of Russian oil stored on ships. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent clarified that this was a temporary easing aimed at increasing the supply of oil on the global market. The authorisation is limited in time (11 April) and only applies to crude oil and derivatives loaded onto ships before 12 March. Last week, the United States had already authorised the delivery of Russian oil stranded at sea to India.
