The US administration is studying the possibility of introducing a carbon tax on imports of industrial products. According to the US administration, the organisation of international trade should take into account the carbon content of the goods and products traded. This would primarily affect imports of steel, aluminium, cement, glass, fertilisers and certain chemical products. In this way, the United States could introduce a mechanism similar to the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism set up by the European Union.
