The United States asks Europe to sanction China and India for their purchases of Russian gas
Disappointed by Russia's attitude and the lack of progress towards an end to the fighting in Ukraine, the United States is calling on Europe to stop buying Russian gas and to introduce sanctions to hit China and India for their purchases of Russian hydrocarbons. Donald Trump is proposing that the European Union introduce 100% "secondary" tariffs on Chinese and Indian exports to Europe for as long as China and India continue to buy Russian oil or gas. The United States would then commit to additional sanctions of its own to force Russia to stop the fighting.
