The target for filling gas storage facilities should remain unchanged at 90%
Negotiators from the European trilogue (Council, Parliament and Commission) meeting on 3 June failed to reach agreement on relaxing the rule on gas storage levels as of 1 November. The current rule requires gas storage levels to be 90% full by 1 November. Some Member States, such as Germany, have decided unilaterally to relax this rule. In the absence of a formal agreement, a provisional compromise seems to be emerging around a target that would remain at 90% but with greater flexibility regarding the timetable, with Member States being able to choose a date between 1 October and 1 December to achieve the target. The trilogue negotiators will meet again on 24 June.
