The State launches a consultation on marketing 8-to-10-year supply contracts

The government has launched a consultation on bringing electricity supply contracts of up to 10 years to market. The contracts would cover the delivery of a guaranteed baseload of power and would be backed by output from state-supported renewable assets. The capacity on offer would initially be capped at a few dozen megawatts. The contracts would be sold at auction, with deliveries beginning the year after the auction is held. Renewable electricity that receives public support is currently marketed by EDF Obligation d'Achat and accounts for 48 TWh a year.
