The President of the Russian Federation confirms that there will be no transit agreement with Ukraine
The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin confirmed at a press conference in Moscow that there would be no agreement to maintain the transit of Russian gas destined for Europe through Ukraine. Vladimir Putin insisted that the responsibility for stopping the transit lay with the Ukrainian authorities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski confirmed that Ukraine was opposed to extending the agreement. Russian gas transiting through Ukraine and delivered to Europe accounted for 5% of the European Union's gas consumption in 2024.
