The IEA forecasts a sharp increase in LNG production by 2030
The International Energy Agency estimates that global liquefied natural gas production capacity will increase by more than 300 billion cubic metres per year by 2030. The United States accounts for half of all projects, followed by Qatar and Canada. Existing LNG production capacity currently stands at 530 billion cubic metres per year. With gas consumption falling in Europe and demand growing slowly in Asia, the market is expected to be oversupplied, even though some analysts are betting on a rebound in demand in India and South and Southeast Asia.
