The IEA expects a significant drop in investment in renewable energy in the United States
The International Energy Agency has halved its forecast for growth in installed renewable capacity in the United States. Whereas last year it was forecasting an increase in renewable capacity of 500 GW by 2025, the IEA is now only expecting an increase of 250 GW. On the other hand, the International Energy Agency has revised upwards its estimate for the growth of renewable capacity in India, which is poised to become the world's second-largest market for renewable energy behind China. According to the IEA, 80% of the growth in installed renewable capacity in 2025 will come from photovoltaic solar power, thanks to falling costs and administrative authorisations that are easier to obtain than for wind power. Growth in investment in renewable energy in China is likely to slow, even if installed capacity continues to expand.
