Last November, the government gave EDF six months to conclude a significant volume of long-term contracts with electricity-intensive customers. The government acknowledged that the fall in prices below €70/MWh had slowed the momentum, and that the complexity of the CAPN (nuclear production allocation contract), which provides for advance payment of part of the price, had slowed discussions. The decision was therefore taken to relax the timetable to allow negotiations between EDF and industry to continue.
