The government launches a trial on flexibility for residential customers

The government is to launch an experiment on the ability of residential customers to adapt their electricity consumption in response to price signals. In concrete terms, the experiment will involve 6,000 consumers who have subscribed to the "basic" option of the regulated sales tariff. The Commission de régulation de l'énergie (CRE) has been tasked with devising a set of tariff signals that will be sent to 4,000 consumers in order to measure their ability to react to these signals. The ultimate aim is to create a new pricing option within the regulated sales tariffs that incorporates flexibility.
