The German government wants to reduce subsidies for renewable energies
The German government wants to reduce subsidies for renewable energies. The Minister for the Economy and Energy has noted a growing imbalance, at certain times, between electricity supply and demand, linked to the development of intermittent renewable energies. The Minister wants to index the remuneration of renewable electricity production more closely to market prices in order to better regulate its development and avoid costly overcapacity.
The German government estimates that annual electricity consumption will be between 600 and 700 TWh in 2030, compared with the previous forecast of 750 TWh. Germany should therefore be able to meet its target of an 80% share of renewable electricity by this date, while reducing investment in intermittent energy sources.
