The European Union is seeking to limit the impact of the war in Iran on energy prices
The European Commission is considering a number of measures to limit the rise in energy prices in the context of the war in Iran:
- Reduce excise duties on electricity and natural gas,
- Mobilise further state aid for the most vulnerable consumers and industries,
- Possibly cap the price of gas used for electricity generation,
- Use the market stability reserve to bring down carbon prices.
