The European Commission examines the financing arrangements for EPR 2

One month after launching an in-depth investigation into the financing of the EPR 2 projects, the European Commission has opened a public consultation on support for the construction and operation of six EPR 2 reactors by France. The cost of the six EPR 2 units is estimated at €84 billion, excluding financing costs. The Commission is questioning the impact of the proposed aid on competition, as EDF remains dominant in France and influential in Europe. French authorities have one month to submit their comments to the Commission.
