The development of AI could lead to the construction of 80 gas-fired power stations by 2030
The development of AI in the United States could lead to the construction of more than 80 gas-fired combined-cycle power plants. The scale and urgency of the requirements make gas-fired power plants the ideal candidate for rapidly meeting the demand of future data centres. Donald Trump's freezing of more than $300 billion in federal funds intended to support renewable energy and infrastructure projects also reinforces the role that gas can play immediately in the development of AI. The need for gas on the US domestic market could lead to a drop in US LNG exports.
