The courts force TotalEnergies to uninstall the floating LNG terminal at Le Havre
The Rouen Administrative Court has ordered TotalEnergies to uninstall the floating LNG terminal anchored in the port of Le Havre. The terminal was anchored in October 2023 to secure the supply of natural gas to the French market at a time of energy crisis. The project was referred to the French Constitutional Council in 2022 by 120 members of parliament, who ruled that the energy crisis was the only reason to build the terminal. On the other hand, according to the Rouen Administrative Court, a return to normal conditions justifies the removal of the terminal. In particular, the Court did not accept TotalEnergies' arguments highlighting the flexibility services offered by the facility.
