80 members of parliament from the right and centre have called on the government to impose a moratorium on renewable energies, which they believe are a burden on public finances. In response, the Minister for Energy and Industry announced that he wanted to refocus public support on the most efficient solar installations. The CRE, for its part, would like to see the development of small-scale facilities favoured over large-scale facilities, particularly ground-mounted installations. For its part, EDF would like to see the target of 100 GW of solar power set out in the multi-annual investment programme revised downwards. By 2024, 4.7 GW of new solar capacity had been installed in France. Under the Finance Bill, EDF will no longer be obliged to buy energy from solar and wind farms when market prices are negative.
