Solar PV electricity generation capacity has doubled in the space of two and a half years, rising from 9.7 GW in July 2022 to 19 GW in 2024. Most of the new installations are small-scale, self-consumption facilities. Solar energy provides Turkey with 6% of its electricity production. Conversely, investment in wind power is slowing, with installed capacity growing by 6.5% (+770 MW) in 2024. At the end of 2024, installed wind power capacity in Turkey stood at 12.5 GW, below the target set in the Ministry of Energy's strategic plan (13.3 GW).
