Solar photovoltaic energy surpassed other sources for electricity production in June
In June, solar energy became the leading primary energy source for electricity generation in Europe, accounting for 22.1% of the European mix and producing 45.4 TWh. In comparison, nuclear energy accounted for 21.8% of the mix. Installed solar photovoltaic capacity increased by 22% compared to June 2024. Wind power accounted for 15.8%. Coal's share of the European electricity mix fell to 6.1% (12.6 TWh). Germany and Poland account for 79% of coal-fired electricity generation in Europe.
