Solar photovoltaic electricity generation reached a record level in 2025

According to Eurelectric, solar photovoltaic electricity production reached a record level in 2025 at 340 TWh, representing 12.5% of the European Union's electricity production. Solar production increased by more than 60 TWh year-on-year. Hydroelectric production, on the other hand, fell by 13% (2024 had been a record year) and wind power production by 4%. Nuclear and conventional thermal production remained stable. Electricity consumption in the European Union remains 7% below its 2021 level.
