The outcome of the US elections and the hesitation of the European Union and the United Kingdom in supporting the development of green hydrogen have led the group to scale back its investment in renewable energies. Over the period 2025-2026, the amounts allocated to renewable energies will fall from €10 billion to €7 billion. The Group will devote €1.5 billion to buying back its own shares in order to support the share price. The group justifies its decision by citing the deterioration in the profitability-risk ratio in the renewable energy sector, which is leading RWE to reallocate its investments to the detriment of renewable energies, which are riskier and less profitable.
