Russian strikes have damaged 60% of Ukraine's natural gas production capacity

The Russian strikes damaged 60% of Ukraine's natural gas production capacity. Ukraine estimates that it will need to import 4.6 billion cubic metres of gas to meet its needs this winter (13.2 billion cubic metres in total). Drone and missile attacks in early October also damaged some key components of the Ukrainian gas network. In these conditions, Ukraine will need the support of the European Union to ensure the continuity of gas supplies next winter.
