The Rassemblement National has indicated that it will abolish the Commission de Régulation de l'Energie if it wins a majority in the National Assembly on 7 July. According to its spokesman Jean-Philippe Tanguy, a France that has abstracted itself from the European energy market will no longer need a regulator. The Rassemblement National's energy policy revolves around measures such as lowering the VAT rate on electricity consumption, promoting nuclear power and decoupling the French electricity market from the European market.
