In states where regulated tariffs remain, these should increase significantly in 2026. Dominion Energy, which supplies electricity to 3.6 million customers in the southern United States, is expected to increase its tariffs by 14% next year to meet the growth in electricity demand linked to the development of data centers. This will be the first rate increase in 30 years. Similar increases are expected in other US states. Over the next five years, electricity consumption in the United States is expected to increase by 16%, after having almost stagnated over the past twenty years.
