Poland to build a 6 billion cubic metre floating LNG terminal
The Polish gas transmission system operator and the Japanese company Mitsui have signed an agreement for the installation of a floating LNG terminal in Poland with a capacity of 6 billion cubic metres. The terminal will be located in the port of Gdansk. It will be the country's second LNG terminal after the Swinoujscie terminal, which has a capacity of 8 billion cubic metres. Poland consumes around 20 billion cubic metres of gas a year, mainly for industry and heat production. The country plans to develop 2,000 MW of gas-fired combined-cycle power plants by 2030.
