New electricity generation capacity marketed through PPAs fell in 2024 to 15 GW (-11%). Rising interest rates and an increase in the number of hours at negative prices have reduced the appetite of buyers, whether electricity companies or large-scale consumers. Recently signed PPAs frequently include anti-negative price clauses, and the trend is towards a better balance of risk between buyers and sellers.
