According to a study by the International Energy Agency (IEA), nuclear power generation is set to set a new record in 2025. The IEA estimates that nuclear power generation will reach 2,915 TWh in 2025, compared with 2,809 TWh in 2021. The growth is linked to the commissioning of new power plants in China and India and to greater availability of EDF's nuclear fleet in France. The IEA estimates that the increase in demand for electricity over the next few years will be met by non-carbon-based generation, whether nuclear or renewable. Half of the additional nuclear capacity between now and 2026 will be concentrated in China and India.
