France is behind schedule in implementing its hydrogen plan
According to GRTGaz's CEO, France will not meet its target of installing 6.5 GW of electrolysis capacity by 2030. The target will not be reached until 2035. The transition to industrial scale is taking longer than expected, as the electrolysis technology currently being developed is a new and unproven technology. Installed capacity at the end of 2023 was just 30 MW. The initial target for 2025 was 10 GW. For GRTGaz's Director, demand from industry is there, and hydrogen remains an essential vector for decarbonisation, particularly for industry and heavy mobility.
