Insulation work produces less energy savings than expected
In a study published on 10 July, the French General Commission for Sustainable Development and INSEE assessed the impact of subsidised insulation work on actual electricity and gas consumption, based on meter readings. The study is based on a sample of around 80,000 single-family homes renovated with financial assistance (MaPrimeRénov’ and energy saving certificates). The results show that the work carried out has led to an average reduction of 8.9% in gas consumption for gas-heated homes and 5.4% in electricity consumption for electrically heated homes, representing an average of 36% of the theoretical energy savings for electricity and 47% for gas.
