According to a study published by the think tank Ember, 593 GW of additional solar capacity should come on stream in 2024, 29% more than in 2023. China, the United States, India, Germany and Brazil account for 75% of the increase in capacity. China alone accounts for 56% of the expected increase in capacity worldwide. Photovoltaic solar power is proving to be the cheapest form of electricity in the world. At the end of June, additional capacity stood at 292 GW.
