Google signs 25-year nuclear PPA with NextEra
Google has signed a 25-year PPA with US electricity company NextEra. NextEra will restart a nuclear power plant in Iowa that has been closed for five years to supply Google. The Duane Arnold plant has a capacity of 615 MW and is expected to restart in 2029. Google and NextEra may also jointly develop projects to build new nuclear power plants. The agreement between Google and NextEra is similar to the one reached between Microsoft and Constellation Energy last year to restart the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant.
