Global natural gas consumption expected to reach 4,200 billion cubic metres
According to the International Energy Agency, global natural gas consumption is expected to reach 4,200 billion cubic metres in 2024, up 2.6% on 2023. The Asia-Pacific region accounts for 45% of global consumption. This is the region with the strongest growth in consumption. Consumption in Europe is expected to reach 488 billion cubic metres in 2024, compared with 489 billion cubic metres in 2023. European consumption is expected to grow by 1% to 493 billion cubic metres in 2025, supported by a recovery in industrial consumption. Europe will consume 600 billion cubic metres of gas in 2021.
