France will once again be Europe's leading electricity exporter in 2023

Thanks in particular to the improved availability of its nuclear fleet, France has once again become the leading exporter of electricity in 2023. Last year, France exported 50.1 TWh, ahead of Sweden (28.6 TWh), Norway (17.3 TWh) and Spain (13.9 TWh). Hydroelectric generation has also contributed to the increase in exports, with output up by 19.4% in 2023 compared with 2022. French exports should continue to rise in 2024 and 2025, by 6 to 8 TWh per year.
