On April 16, the government published an update to its hydrogen strategy. The targets for installed electrolysers have been revised downwards to 4.5 GW in 2030 and 8 GW in 2035. The budget allocated to hydrogen is €9 billion by 2030, including €4 billion to support carbon-free hydrogen production through electrolysis. The government estimates that 20 to 30 TWh of electricity will be needed for hydrogen production through electrolysis by 2030.
