France does not want to bear the cost of strengthening electricity interconnections alone
Although France is a transit country for electricity, according to its Energy Minister Marc Ferracci, it does not intend to finance the cost of strengthening interconnections with neighbouring countries alone. Following the blackout in Spain, the Spanish and Portuguese governments asked France to strengthen the electricity interconnection between France and Spain. France is prepared to do its part but insists that the cost be shared among the countries that will benefit from the increased interconnection capacity.
