France aims to multiply its installed data-centre capacity sevenfold
Installed data-centre capacity stood at 1.5 GW at the end of 2025. The investment projects announced at the Choose France summit represent a further 10 GW of capacity in total, from groups such as SoftBank, Brookfield, Ardian, MGW and Salesforce. If all the projects were built, electricity consumption would rise by roughly 90 TWh—equivalent to what France exported in 2025—which would tend to bring French power prices closer to German levels and would justify a build-out of renewable generation capacity, with the first EPR2 reactors not due to come online before 2038.
