For the IGU, forecasts of growth in global gas demand are biased
In its latest report, the International Gas Union warns of the unrealistic nature of the forecasts for global gas demand that form the basis of public policies around the world. According to the IGU, there is a gap between the official forecasts and a realistic vision of what gas demand will be, insofar as the official forecasts are ‘optimistic’ forecasts that seek to stick to the greenhouse gas emission reduction targets to which governments are committed. For the IGU, this situation of denial, which encourages players to invest less, could lead to a major energy crisis as early as 2030.
