European imports of Russian LNG reached a record high in the first quarter
The European Union imported 6.9 billion cubic meters of LNG from Russia in the first quarter, an increase of 16% compared to last year. The trend continued in April, with a 17% rise compared to April 2025. France, Belgium, and Spain are the main importers of Russian LNG. Russia remains the EU’s second-largest supplier of liquefied natural gas. Russia supplies 14% of Europe’s gas, compared to 31% for Norway and 28% for the United States.
