Engie calls for the gas stockpiling target to be reduced to 80%.
The CEO of Engie, Catherine MacGregor, believes that reducing the level of gas storage from 90% to 80% by 1 November would not have an impact on the security of Europe's gas supply and would reduce the pressure on summer gas prices.
The European Commission requires Member States to have filled 90% of their gas stocks by 1st November, with intermediate targets in February, May, July and September. The decision was taken during the energy crisis.
The CEO of Engie believes that the European gas market should relax with the release of new natural gas liquefaction capacity in the second half of 2026 and in 2027.
