Electricity exports reach record levels
The net balance between electricity imports and exports could reach 90 TWh in 2024. At 31 October, the export balance was 75.2 TWh. The average export balance over the last ten years has been 44 TWh. In 2022, the sharp fall in the availability of nuclear power, due to stress corrosion phenomena at certain plants, led France to become a net importer of electricity. In 2023, the export balance reached 50.3 TWh.
