In 2024, electricity consumption in France is expected to grow by just 0.5% compared with 2023, and to remain 6% below the average for the years 2014-2019. For this year, the International Energy Agency forecasts electricity demand growth of 1.7% in Europe and 4% worldwide. The IEA anticipates strong growth in global electricity demand between now and 2030, driven by the development of electric vehicles, air conditioning, artificial intelligence and data centres.
