EDF wants to auction CAPNs
EDF is considering organising auctions, in which both consumers and suppliers could participate, to sell nuclear production allocation contracts.
EDF currently offers over-the-counter fixed-price contracts with a duration of 10 to 15 years to electricity-intensive manufacturers, based on the existing nuclear fleet.
Very few contracts have been signed to date, as manufacturers consider the terms offered by EDF to be unattractive.
The volumes put up for auction could represent 7 TWh of electricity per year. The proposed contracts would run for 10 or 15 years, like the CAPN.
The auctions would be open to companies consuming at least 7 GWh of electricity per year, but also to EDF's competitors.
