EDF to invest €9 billion to cope with climate change
EDF has unveiled a €9 billion plan to adapt its generation fleet to climate change over fifteen years, or €600 million a year, against around €150 million currently. The facilities concerned are mainly:
- the nuclear fleet, whose output is increasingly constrained in summer by limits on water discharge temperatures during heatwaves;
- hydropower plants, penalised by low river water levels.
