According to EDF, the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station is not expected to come on stream before 2029. At the same time, EDF has increased the cost of the project, now estimated at £46 billion. EDF's Chinese partner, CGN, announced that it would not finance the cost overruns, as it wanted to stick to financing its share of the project (33.5%) applied to the initial estimate. For the moment, the British government has no intention of participating in the financing of the project.
