Data centre consumption in Europe could increase by 75% between now and 2030, rising from 96 TWh per year in 2024 to 168 TWh per year in 2030 and even 236 TWh in 2035. The construction of new data centres could be concentrated in Scandinavia and Ireland, with a risk of saturating the electricity networks in these countries. In Ireland, data centre consumption currently accounts for 21% of the country's electricity consumption. In France, data centre consumption could rise from 11 to 19 TWh. Spain could also attract some data centres, thanks to its high level of renewable electricity production.
