CRE publishes the cost of electricity price shields and shock absorbers

The French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) has published an overview of the cost of the various measures implemented to protect consumers during the energy crisis.
The overall cost is €26.3 billion. The 2023 electricity shield alone represents a cost of €19.2 billion. The gas shield for 2021 and 2022 represents a cost of €3.5 billion.
At the same time, CRE has published the amount of public service charges to be compensated in 2024. Support for renewable energy represents a cost of €3.18 billion, compared with €1.12 billion for biomethane.
