Court of Auditors deems European hydrogen targets unrealistic
In a report, the European Court of Auditors has severely criticised Europe's hydrogen targets. According to the Court of Auditors, the chances of achieving the targets Europe has set itself (10 million tonnes of green hydrogen by 2020) are close to zero, despite the substantial budgets mobilised (€18.8 billion over the period 2021-2027). Europe currently produces 0.11 million tonnes of green hydrogen, with an installed electrolyser capacity of 324 MW. No member country has yet notified the European Commission of quantified targets for the production of green hydrogen.
